BILATERAL GRANULOMA OF THE LARYNX DUE TO INTRATRACHEAL ANESTHESIA Abstract GRANULOMA of the larynx due to intratracheal anesthesia has been reported in the literature previously, so that there are now 22 cases in addition to this one. The first case of granuloma, unilateral in origin, was reported by Clausen1 of England, in May of 1932, and the last case, bilateral in origin, by Wright2 of Houston, Texas. Considering the number of times intratracheal anesthesia is induced, 23 reported cases does not seem excessive. At the University of Pennsylvania Hospital they have had only one definitely proved case in approximately 10,000 instances of intratracheal anesthesia. The chief anesthetist at the Graduate Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania informs me that this case is the only one they know of in over 9,000 intubations.
