Abstract The author presents this text as a "complete guide to cosmetic eyelid surgery... to allow the cosmetic blepharoplasty surgeon to achieve satisfactory cosmesis without compromise of eyelid function." To obtain this end, Dr Bosniak addresses the comprehensive preoperative evaluation, involutional anatomical changes, surgical options, intraoperative insights, recommended procedures, and management of complications for the patient undergoing blepharoplasty. The introductory chapter deals with patient selection, patient preparation, medical evaluation, preoperative measurements and observations, and surgical planning. Several tables, designed as checklists, allow for easy reference so that important historical and clinical information is not omitted. The list of potential complications of cosmetic eyelid surgery is particularly thorough and is written in lay terms. For the nonophthalmologist, the tabulations of normal eyelid measurements and possible systemic causes for eyelid malpositions are helpful. Chapters 2 through 4 cover the anatomy and surgical techniques for correction of the eyebrow, upper eyelid, and lower http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Archives of Ophthalmology American Medical Association
