Abstract Faculty Appointment Announced. —Robert C. Kleiner, MD, has been appointed to the Retina and Vitreous Service of the Scheie Eye Institute, Philadelphia. After a residency at the Scheie Eye Institute, Dr Kleiner was a fellow at The Wilmer Institute of The Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, and at Emory University, Atlanta. Research Awards Announced. —The Alcon Research Institute, in March 1987, awarded its annual research monetary awards of $50 000 each to the following scientists: Dr George Benedek, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, Mass; Dr Thaddeus Dryja, Massachusetts Eye & Ear Infirmary, Boston; Dr Morton F. Goldberg, Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary, Chicago; Dr Sohan S.
