Becker-Shaffer's Diagnosis and Therapy of the Glaucomas

Becker-Shaffer's Diagnosis and Therapy of the Glaucomas This article is only available in the PDF format. Download the PDF to view the article, as well as its associated figures and tables. Abstract Opening up a new edition of this familiar textbook is like meeting an old friend in new clothes. Few ophthalmologists trained in the United States during the last 15 years have not spent many profitable hours studying "Becker and Shaffer." Those who have not should buy a copy of this latest revision, read it from cover to cover, and put it on a shelf in their office where it can be used for quick reference. The book contains an up-to-date and orderly exposition of basic and clinical aspects of glaucoma. Its weaknesses are few, and its strengths are many. Among the latter are detailed descriptions of primary open-angle glaucoma and masterful sections on medical and surgical therapy. Why a new edition? The authors have added some new information about the anatomy of the outflow channels. They have improved the chapter on perimetry by including a diagram of the Armaly-Drance screening http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Archives of Ophthalmology American Medical Association
