Abstract In 44 patients with open-angle glaucoma under treatment with echothiophate, tensions were compared with and without simultaneous treatment with pilocarpine. In most cases, echothiophate is as effective alone as in combination with pilocarpine. This finding is described with reference to current views on the nature of the cholinergic receptor.
