Amyloid in Corneal Dystrophies: Differentiation of Lattice From Granular and Macular Dystrophies

Amyloid in Corneal Dystrophies: Differentiation of Lattice From Granular and Macular Dystrophies Abstract Lattice dystrophy of the cornea can be differentiated histologically from granular and macular dystrophies by the use of those stains that are employed in the histologic detection of amyloid. Only the stromal lesions of lattice dystrophy give consistently positive reactions for amyloid. The histologic, histochemical, and electron microscopic similarities of the lesions of lattice dystrophy and amyloid are striking, and the question is raised as to what, if any, is the relationship between these two entities. Abstract

Abstract Lattice dystrophy of the cornea can be differentiated histologically from granular and macular dystrophies by the use of those stains that are employed in the histologic detection of amyloid.
