Abstract To the Editor: —The Proceedings of the June, 1961, Session of the House of Delegates indicate that the following resolution was introduced by Dr. Ralph O. Rychener, Delegate for the Section on Ophthalmology:"Whereas, the Accreditation Board of the American Medical Association requires that all tissues removed during operations be submitted to the pathology laboratory and examined with the aim of establishing indications for surgical procedures; and"Whereas, Pathologic examination of tissue obtained during certain ophthalmic operations would not contribute toward determining the indications or contraindications for operation, therefore be it"Resolved, That (1) tissues obtained in the course of the following operations need not be submitted to the pathology laboratory: cataract extractions, routine iridectomy, and corrective and reconstructive procedures; (2) on the other hand, examination of the following specimens should be required: all enucleated eyes; all orbital, eyelid and conjunctival tissues except those obtained as a result of plastic http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Archives of Ophthalmology American Medical Association
