Abstract This monograph (in the Hungarian language) is concerned with industrial ophthalmology, that is, with diseases due to long-standing exposure to various hazards; accidental injuries are not included Chapter 1 is concerned with external diseases, caused by the direct action of dust, fumes and vapors (exposure to various mineral substances, plants or animal material). Dimethyl sulfate poisoning, of which an extensive description was previously given by the author, is characterized by stippling of the cornea, due to acid fission products. The problem of goggles is stressed, with demonstration of the new American models. In chapter 2. the deleterious action of radiant energy in industry is discussed, especially photophthalmia of arc welders and cinema employees. The studies of Duke-Elder. F. Law, Birch - Hirschfeld and others are mentioned.
