Abstract GENERAL Epileptics Anonymous. —Epileptics Anonymous, patterned after AA, has been established in Los Angeles, where there are over 25,000 epileptics in the county. In the three weeks since its formation seven active groups have begun holding regular weekly meetings, and all indications point to a rapid spread of the organization across the country. It is estimated there are 1,500,000 epileptics in the United States, making this the third most prevalent disorder in the nation.Members of the new Epileptics Anonymous groups have found that the EA program and principles offer them the same haven of hope, understanding, and mutual help that the Alcoholics Anonymous program has so successfully offered the alcoholic during the last 20 years. The EA program is, in fact, merely an adaptation of AA to fit the specific needs of the epileptic.
