Diagnosis and Management of Pain Syndromes, ed 2.

Diagnosis and Management of Pain Syndromes, ed 2. This article is only available in the PDF format. Download the PDF to view the article, as well as its associated figures and tables. Abstract This second edition of Dr. Finneson's monograph on pain has been largely rewritten and contains two additional chapters. One of the latter, describing the use of drugs for pain relief, is an informative although brief dissertation on useful standard and synthetic drugs, non-narcotic drugs, and side effects. It is written by Dr. Arthur Grollman of the University of Texas, Southwestern Medical School. The other added chapter, by Dr. Martin Meltzer, New York University School of Medicine, deals with musculoskeletal pain. In a straightforward manner, general management and specific therapy (such as local steroid injections for osteoarthritic joint diseases) are briefly but adequately discussed. The rest of the book, in well arranged chapters, deals with psychology of pain, analgesic blocks, headache, facial and neck pain including "whip-lash" injuries, sciatica, visceral and vascular pain, and related topics. Diagnostic procedures, particularly those referable to low back pain of various etiologies, are well discussed http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Archives of Neurology American Medical Association
