Abstract This collection of forty odd papers read at the Sixteenth Congress of Scandinavian Neurologists, initially published as Supplement No. 4 of the Acta Neurologica Scandinavica, Vol 39, 1963, has now been issued as a separate paperback edition. Most of the papers deal with the dyskinesias, chiefly Parkinson's disease, presenting brief reviews of the relevant anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pathology, as well as clinical aspects. Fourteen unrelated papers on miscellaneous subjects including multiple sclerosis, diabetic encephalopathy, CSF gamma globulin, etc, are also included. Of particular interest are the discussions of problems and recent developments in "extrapyramidal" anatomy by Brodal, as well as Laursen's review of the physiology of the corpus striatum. Both are excellent reviews and contain good bibliographies. The remainder of the papers, however, are too brief; and, consequently, those who work in this field will find that they are often uncritical, neglect many important items, and are not as current http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Archives of Neurology American Medical Association
