The Treatment of Hodgkin's Disease: Recent Results in Cancer Research.

The Treatment of Hodgkin's Disease: Recent Results in Cancer Research. This article is only available in the PDF format. Download the PDF to view the article, as well as its associated figures and tables. Abstract After a concise historical review, the author lists the different clinical classifications. An early report by Lee that lymphangiography is not necessary in stages I and IIA is not dispelled. The importance and the difficulty of the evaluation of the liver status is omitted completely. The statement that liver involvement immediately indicates stage III disease must be a mistake, although in the table liver involvement is also not mentioned under stage IV disease. Surgical treatment, radiotherapy, and the most widely used chemotherapeutic agents and hormones are discussed in the second chapter, and the application of these forms of treatment in the different stages of the disease is discussed in the final chapter on clinical management. Too much emphasis is placed on the value of surgical treatment in stage I disease while the author barely mentions multiple drug combinations and the use of these with radiation in stage III disease.
