Abstract Authoritative and complete, this work in its third edition provides easy reference to the potentially toxic chemicals, drugs, cosmetics, detergents, pesticides, and additives used in industry, the home, and medical practice. Continuing additions and changes will no doubt require future editions. The ingredients of various proprietary preparations (many unobtainable elsewhere) are clearly stated, so that symptoms, signs, and laboratory findings in the poisoned individual can be related and treated expeditiously. Even in a volume of this large size, it is impossible to list the toxic signs and symptoms except for the larger and more common groups of chemicals. The urgent need for an up-to-date, complete encyclopedia of toxicology is evident. However, the various chapters deal in a very practical manner with first aid and emergency treatment and regular and supportive therapy.
