Abstract Within recent years reports have appeared concerning an unidentified reticuloendothelial cell in the bone marrow and spleen of adults.1-3 This cell has varied in size from 15μ to 60μ. Its outstanding feature has been the presence of a deep-blue-staining granular material in the cytoplasm, as demonstrated with the Wright or Giemsa stain. The purpose of this communication is to present an additional patient in whom this histiocyte was found, to describe results of histochemical analysis of the cell, and to compare the findings of lipid analysis of a spleen infiltrated with this cell with those in a normal spleen. Data concerning mucopolysaccharide metabolism in this patient will be described, and the relationship of this case to cases in similar reports will be discussed. Report of a Case A 60-year-old white woman was seen at the Mayo Clinic in February, 1963. She came primarily because of fatigue, splenomegaly, gallbladder trouble, References 1. Malinin, T.
