Renal Biopsy: Clinical and Pathological Significance

Abstract This volume contains the proceedings of the symposium on "Clinico-Pathological Significance of Renal Biopsy," held in London, March 14-16, 1961. The symposium was chaired by Dr. A. R. Rich of Johns Hopkins University, and the participants were from medical centers both here in the States as well as from abroad. The title of this volume, unfortunately, tends to suggest a somewhat limited approach to renal physiology and diseases. This is decidedly not the case. In this volume I have found some of the most stimulating discussion of the ultra-structure of the glomerulus, the pathology of disease states, and the philosophy of renal biopsy. There are excellent chapters on the ultra-structure of the glomerulus associated with increased permeability of the glomerulus to protein, the electron microscopy of renal amyloidosis, and the electron microscopy of the kidney in nephrotic syndrome. Further glomerular damage in terms of pore size is beautifully presented by http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Archives of Internal Medicine American Medical Association
