The Management of Obesity.

The Management of Obesity. This article is only available in the PDF format. Download the PDF to view the article, as well as its associated figures and tables. Abstract In this book both the endocrine aspects of obesity and the practical management of the condition of the obese patient are discussed. Many physicians do not agree with Engelbach's classification of the hypogonad, castrate, adiposogenital and pituitarothyroid types of obesity. Not all physicians will agree with the statement that "The patient should always be given a diet consisting of about 1,000 calories," since many physicians prescribe diets containing fewer calories. Considerable attention is given to the use of drugs in the treatment of obesity. The food tables and outlines of diets consisting of 1,000, 1,200 and 1,500 calories are satisfactory. This small volume with references and index will be helpful to many physicians. http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Archives of Internal Medicine American Medical Association
