Abstract Seventeen authors have contributed to this lengthy, beautifully illustrated textbook of dermatopathology. However, the greater part of the text has been written by the editors, who have chosen to present their material in a highly personal way, primarily reflecting their individual interests and points of view. The first six chapters are basic ones, serving as an introduction to the fundamentals of dermal pathology and are excellently done. They include "Anatomy and Histology of Skin," "Ultrastructure of Human Epidermis," "Techniques for Preparation of Skin for Histopathologic Study," "Biopsy and Gross Tissue Techniques," "Histochemistry of the Skin," and "Basic Pathologic Changes in Skin." Although the authors indicate in the preface that the book is by no means all-inclusive of the broad specialty of dermal pathology, this hardly excuses the omission, for example, of at least basic discussions of such disorders as psoriasis, pityriasis rubra pilaris, lichen planus, lupus erythematosus, periarteritis nodosa,
