Abstract Erythroplasia of Queyrat. Presented by James L. Lynch, MD. A 76-year-old-white man has had a number of senile keratoses and three basal cell carcinomas removed over the last 17 years. About nine years ago a lesion developed on his penis which has very slowly enlarged. Examination reveals a 16 × 20 mm superficial erythematous plaque on the dorsal shaft of the penis beneath the foreskin. The patient has never been circumcised.A biopsy revealed erythroplasia of Queyrat. Discussion Dr. Paul Hirsch: Throughout the epidermis there is diffuse cellular atypia at all levels, associated with acanthosis. This atypism is manifested by dyskeratosis, loss of polarity, pleomorphism, and relative nuclear hyperchromasia. The basal cell zone is sharply marginated and though the cellular atypia also involves this level, there is no evidence of invasion into the underlying stroma. My histologic interpretation is carcinoma in situ, or erythroplasia of Queyrat.Local therapy would include References 1. Brück, C., and Westbeck, C.
