Abstract Porphyria With Sclerodermoid Changes. Presented by Drs. Brian Potter, Raymond Handler, and Harvey Fagelson. This white man, aged 67, began to notice loss of scalp hair two years ago, and thickening, darkening, and itching of the skin of the neck and shoulders which has now extended over the chest to the waistline and along the upper limbs to the knuckles. There has been absolutely no involvement on the lower part of the body. There has been no decrease in weight, appetite, or ability to swallow or to breathe.On examination he presented on the face, scalp, neck, chest, and upper limbs, thickened inelastic hyperpigmented skin. There is no hair on the scalp and little on the face, except on the upper lip and around the mouth which are the only places that he has to shave.
