SEMANTICS AND REALITY

SEMANTICS AND REALITY This article is only available in the PDF format. Download the PDF to view the article, as well as its associated figures and tables. Abstract To the Editor: I have read with great interest the important considerations of Dr. Howard P. Lewis, Professor and Chairman of the Department of Medicine of the University of Oregon, contained in his article "Role of Dermatology in a Medical School" which appeared in the May issue (87:547, 1963) of the Archives of Dermatology. Although the ideas expressed are fundamentally good and important for the future of the specialty, I have thought from the first moment that they could give rise to confusion and create problems in other environments and in other countries which have a system different from that contemplated by Dr. Lewis. Not for one moment have I intended to engage in the debate that perhaps some will think the Professor of Medicine of the University of Oregon has launched; for indeed in his article there are no suggestions of such a challenge, but rather a serene elucidation http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Archives of Dermatology American Medical Association
