Abstract The Federal Communications Commission has found it necessary to restrict the use of medical diathermy apparatus. After July 1, 1952, it will be illegal for one to use any diathermy unit the frequencies of which are not within assigned bands. Every new diathermy apparatus approved by the Commission will bear a name plate showing the F. C. C. type approval number. Most units now in use for medical diathermy do not conform to the new regulations. They will have to be discarded, or the room in which they are used will have to be shielded. The Commission found it necessary to impose strict restrictions on the manufacture and use of medical diathermy apparatus because such equipment was interfering seriously with radio communications, including television. During the war, this type of interference was a major problem.
