Abstract In the preface the authors state that the field of ion transfer has not received the careful and widespread application and evaluation which its preliminary results appear to warrant. They hope that the presentation of existing knowledge in this field will serve as a basis for further study and utilization of its possibilities. This book has fourteen chapters, a fairly extensive bibliography and an index. The first part of the book, consisting of four chapters, discusses the historical development of ion transfer, the physical characteristics of the electric current, the effect of electrolytically introduced drugs and the methods of treatment. The second part of the book is divided into the use of iontophoresis in diseases of the nervous system, arthritis, lumbago and torticollis, scars and dermatologic conditions, diseases of the genitalia, diseases of the ear, nose and throat, ophthalmology, dentistry and miscellaneous conditions such as neoplasms, phlebitis and varicose ulcers. http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Archives of Dermatology and Syphilology American Medical Association
