January 10, 2011 — Sunnyvale, CA — DeepDyve today announced that Springer has agreed to make journal articles from more than 100 journals in key subject areas such as biomedical, public health, and business and economics available through DeepDyve's online rental service for research articles.
"Springer publishes an extensive catalog of scientific and business journals that are widely read and respected within the professional and scholarly communities," said William Park, CEO at DeepDyve. "This partnership is a win-win for our respective organizations. Springer greatly expands our body of rentable journal articles, and in turn we present a way for Springer to attract and engage new readers."
Springer's articles are expected to be available for rent via DeepDyve in the latter part of the first quarter of 2011. DeepDyve users will be able to search for and rent Springer articles using their DeepDyve accounts. Additionally, Springer’s online platform, SpringerLink, will provide an option to click directly to DeepDyve as a way to provide non- subscribers a simple way to rent articles via DeepDyve.
"Springer is seeking to expand access to its content via the largest possible number of options for readers. DeepDyve provides us with a tested option to expand our reader base," said Ray Colón, Springer's Director, eProduct Management. Users will have the option to rent individual articles for a 24-hour period starting at just $4.99.
