THE ROLE OF EMOTIONAL LABOR IN THE DELIVERY OF PUBLIC SERVICESDOINA POPESCU LJUNGHOLM
2014 Review of Contemporary Philosophy
doi:
Research on emotional labor in organizations, the notion of emotional
labor, the outcomes of emotional labor, and the connection between the behavioral
feature of job results and emotional labors has yielded fairly consistent findings over
the past decade. My aim in this paper is to investigate the substantial awareness of
emotions in the workplace, the social construction of emotional labor, the human
processes entailed in public service leadership and service delivery, and the character
of emotion work.

ANARCHY AND INTERNATIONAL LAW: THE APPROACHES OF HEDLEY BULL AND NOAM CHOMSKYJEAN ALLAIN
2014 Review of Contemporary Philosophy
doi:
Are anarchy and the law antithetical? Not so, as for more than 350
years international law has governed a legal order based on anarchy; wherein no
central authority exists and law functions not on the basis of coercion but on
cooperation whereby States must agree to each specific laws before it is bound by its
obligations. This article contemplates two manners in which an anarchist might consider
international law interesting: first, as a legal system which governs an anarchical
society as described by Hedley Bull in line with the English School of International
Relations; and second, as a manifestation of a State system which, though illegitimate
can be utilized, as Noam Chomsky does, for tactical reasons to demonstrate its inconsistencies
and thus weakening the system with the ultimate aim being its implosion.

THE ENOWNING OF THOUGHT AND WHAKAPAPA: HEIDEGGER’S FOURFOLDCARL MIKA
2014 Review of Contemporary Philosophy

Throughout colonization, Maori have been constantly urged to think
of their terminology, and the objects it relates to, along constrained lines. In this
practice, the self and other things are arguably restricted and impoverished. However,
certain frequently used Maori terms – such as “whakapapa” and “whakaaro” – may
be read alongside Heidegger’s “Ereignis,” revealing a completely other sense to them
than their orthodox, respective translations of “genealogy” and “to think” allow. This
kind of thinking in concert with an existential philosophy is an active process that
allows for the “freeing up” of entities and a colonized group. With Heidegger’s
assistance, the terms, and the original sources they refer to, reflect a kind of
“Geviert”/Fourfold that ensures a continual strife and interplay between things in the
world and self.

KNOWLEDGE, UNDERSTANDING AND THE GOD PARADIGMMURRAY HUNTER
2014 Review of Contemporary Philosophy

This paper explores the semantics of the concept of “God,” reverting
to the question of “how is God?,” rather than “what is God?” A heuristic based upon
dependent origination from the Pali Text presents and explores a conceptual “God
paradigm” that can explain existence and reality.

WITTIG ON THE SEMANTICS OF GRAMMATICAL GENDERCARMEN PETCU
2014 Review of Contemporary Philosophy

The theory that I shall seek to elaborate here puts considerable
emphasis on Wittig’s understanding of lesbian, her literary and theoretical representations
of lesbian passion, sexuality, and politics, and her urging on the vast capacity
of becoming-other in the area of lesbian desire. The purpose of this article is to gain
a deeper understanding of Wittig’s use of “inversion,” her fluctuations on metamorphosis,
and her positive evaluation of the natural world.
Keywords: gender; sex; heterosexuality; lesbian; social; politics

The purpose of this article is to gain a deeper understanding of the
extent to which the internet can democratize news, citizen engagement in media
communication, the news attributes of social media, and new policies of information
collecting. The results of the current study converge with prior research on the advance
of digital news and journalism, social media employment in news gathering,
transformative features of the present news environment, and new types of journalistic
evidence.

THE GENDER DIVISION OF LABOR IN PUBLIC SECTOR EMPLOYMENTDOINA POPESCU LJUNGHOLM
2014 Review of Contemporary Philosophy
doi:
This paper discusses the major trends in scholarship about the intricacy
of gender models in organizations, the difficulty of accomplishing workplace
gender equality, the gender complexities of public sector organizations, and gendered
cultural prospects for emotional reactions. My analysis complements the growing
literature on gender connections and processes in public sector workplaces, the
obstacles to pay equity and fair employment chance for women and men, the gender
patterns of public sector workplaces, and the gender settlements of public sector
organizations.
