Russian scientists in the field of hydrotechnical construction, soil dynamics and seismicity, vibration equipment and technologies have developed world-class equipment for dynamic soil compaction and quality control during the construction of tall hydroelectric dams in narrow canyons in earthquake-prone zones. This equipment includes K-701VK heavy vibrating rollers produced at the Kirov Plant in St. Petersburg and heavy dual-weight tampers dropped from self-propelled cranes. Domestic compaction machines should be used in constructing large earth-fill dams in Dagestan (Russia), Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and other CIS countries, designed by Russian hydraulic engineers to supply energy to CIS countries and sell competitive electricity abroad. Along with hydrotechnical construction, the K701M-VR vibrating roller and heavy dual-weight tampers are recommended for compaction of a wide range of soils and ground materials in bottoming high-class highways and railroads, constructing airfield pavements, etc.
