Summary A peptide isolated from rats habituated to a sound stimulus has been given the structure Glu-Ala-Gly-Tyr-Ser-Lys-OH. A synthesis of this compound afforded a product that different from the natural material on the basis of chromatographic and physiological comparisons. The proposed sequence must therefore be in error.

Summary The occurrence from a marine sponge of 4-hydroxyphenylpyruvic acid oxime is good evidence that an oxime (4) is the biogenetic precursor of aerothionin (1), homoaerothionin (2) and aeroplysinin-1 (3), brominated metabolites isolated from Verongia sponges.

Résumé Les mitochondries des cellules testiculaires de rat convertissent le β-sitostérol-4-C14 en prégnénolone et progestérone. Comme celle du cholestérol, l'oxydation du β-sitostérol en composés stéroidiens est stimulée par le NADPH. La radio-chromatographie en phase gazeuse des stéroides n'indique aucune conversion du β-sitostérol en cholestérol on en stéroides à 27 carbones dans les conditions étudiées.

Summary Five tripeptides with the sequencel-Arg-d-X-l-Phe showed antibiotic activity on fungi and on some pathogenic moulds. The action of the peptides could be neutralized in the cross-strip test by thel-amino acid corresponding to thed-amino acid in the middle position.

Résumé Les activités libre et totale des enzymes phosphatase acide, β-glucuronidase et cathepsine D ont été mesurées dans 35 biopsies gingivales aprés homogénisation et isolation de l'extrait cytoplasmique. Les résultats semblent prouver une libération extralysosomale d'enzymes pendant un processus inflammatoire trés fréquent chez l'homme.
