The paper gives the chromosome number for 50 species of the Mongolian flora. Some of the counts appear to be the first findings for the species. They are:Draba eriopodaTurcz. exLedeb. 2n=16,Lychnis sibirica L. 2n=24,Papaver pseudocanescensM. Popov 2n=42,Thymus baicalensisSerg. 2n=28 andViola gmelinianaSchultes 2n=24.

Urtica dioica L. andRubus fruticosus L. (+agg.) are widely distributed in Belgian cultivated poplar woods. Using adjusted standardized residuals as an objective measure of preference of a species for ecoparameters, it seems possible to describe the distribution betweenUrtica andRubus as coincidental as regards ecological considerations. Both plant species behave obviously as antagonists.

Three new genera are described:Drymochloa (aff.Festuca),Eriophorella (aff.Eriophorum andBaeothryon),Poenosedum (affSedum). Four new nomenclatural combinations are proposed for their species.

A new genusBactrodesmiastrumHol.-Jech. is established for a fungus of dematiaceous hyphomycetes collected on decaying wood ofFagus sylvatica in Czechoslovakia. The only species,B. obscurumHol.-Jech. is described and illustrated.
