Urinary bladders from fully developed fetuses of rabbit and slips of skin from newborn rabbits, aged 6 hours, were placed in a 1 per cent trypan blue solution from George T. Gurr (No. 06186) for about 24 hours in ordinary room temperature. They were then transferred to the hypodermis of grown‐up rabbit males. The transplants and their surroundings were microscopically examined after 14 days (the urinary‐bladders) and 21 days (the skin). The control material consisted of an identical number of transplantations of the same organ without any foregoing staining (called “direct” transfers).

Following childbirths and transfusions of Jk (a+) blood a woman of type Jk (a—–) developed anti‐Jka. Her serum has been used to investigate the Kidd blood group distribution in Norway. Examination of mother‐child combinations and family material confirm the theory of inheritance of the factor Jka as earlier described.

After a survey of the literature the author reports 4 new cases of gastric carcinoma and 10 of intestinal carcinoma in the dog. In the discussion the data of all known cases of gastro‐intestinal carcinoma are analysed with regard to frequency, age, sex ratio, the site of the tumours in the stomach and intestine, the type of carcinoma, their relationship to ulcers and chronic inflammation and their metastasising disposition.

White mice of a homologous strain were exposed to total‐body x‐irradiation, the dose ranging from 600 to 750 r. They were treated for varying periods with streptomycin alone, RES—(reticuloendothelial system)—stimulating substances, or a combination of these two media. All the substances were administered with the micro‐injection technique.

Nine Salmonella types have been isolated from tortoises. Eight of them belong to types which have previously been identified. One is a new type designed S. solna, with the antigenic formula 28: a: 1,5. I am greatly indebted to dr. F. Kauffmann for valuable help and confirmation of S. solna's antigenic formula.

Three typhoid vaccines were tested: an alcohol‐killed and alcohol‐preserved, a heat‐killed and phenol‐preserved, and a formalin‐killed and phenol‐preserved. The antibody‐stimulating properties of the vaccines were determined 1 month after the preparation and after storage for on an average nearly 2 years in the refrigerator.
