Organizational Effectiveness and the Expert

Examines the major current approaches to organizational analysis,namely accounting, marketing, behavioural, management services,consultative, systems and total quality. Describes an outline sketch ofeach showing the basic philosophy adopted and the techniques utilized.Discusses the limitations of the adoption by management of any oneapproach and the selection of the expert, as this tends tolead to the definition of the problem, and hence to asolution related directly to the adopted approachexpert.This will give rise to an oversimplification of the true organizationalcomplexity and may lead to a loss of overall organizationaleffectiveness. Suggests a number of guidelines for management, to assistin the handling of a process of organizational effectiveness improvementthrough organizational analysis and the use of experts.
