Several efforts to deal with the problem of shrink ing global resources have succeeded in alerting the public to the threatening disastrous consequences of a continuing laissez-faire attitude in the face of currently observable population and industrial ization trends. But little has been done to provide positive, realistic plans for countering these threats.

A significant problem facing the world today is the development of an energy-literate public. Interactive simulation using special-purpose analog and digital computers has proven to be an effective method of public education. This article provides a brief in troduction to the educational use of interactive simulation and discusses the functional and elec tronic design of an Energy-Environment Simulator.

Deriving quantitative information from time-varying signals recorded on video tape can be cumbersome. This paper discusses an interface between a hybrid computer and a video integrator that quantifies in formation from a portion of the video signal which is variable in size and location within the television raster.
