Nashville: Vanderbilt UP, 2006. 278 pp. Para llegar al cogollo de este libro, lleno de aptos comentarios, uno debe efectuar ´ ´ primero una travesia en el desierto, perforando un estilo denso que mortifico a este lector. Cada nombre aparece adjetivado una o dos veces, los verbos funcionan ´ ´ ´ mas como apoyos sintacticos que como generadores de significado, y asi. Un buen ´ ´ editor habria ayudado enormemente. Luego, y sobre todo en el capitulo inicial del ´ ´ volumen, la jerga teorica enturbia el discurso. Baste un boton de muestra: ``I will also attempt to demonstrate that Spanish romanticism can and should be read as a heuristic on the ideological terms within which entities as formidable as `Western modernity,' `European romanticism,' and `Modern European literature' have been constituted'' (4).
