Physiol. 16): Lll42-Lll51, 1997.-This report demonstrates that Clara cell lo-kDa protein (CClO) mRNA levels are regulated by interferon-y (IFN-y). An analysis total lung RNA from mice given intratracheally showed increased levels CC10 mRNA compared to control animals but no significant increases in surfactant proteins B and C. These results were confirmed in a Clara cell line, mtCCl-2, generated from the lungs a transgenic mouse expressing the SV40 large T antigen under the control a Clara cell-specific promoter. Significant increases in mtCCl2 CC10 mRNA levels were observed in a time- and a dose-dependent manner. The transacting factors hepatocyte nuclear factors 3a and 3p (HNF-3c~ and HNF-3P) were also analyzed, and a transient increase in the HNF-3l3 but
