Intercellular Plasma of Centrifuged Human Erythrocytes as Measured by Means of Iodo 131 -Albumin

Intercellular Plasma of Centrifuged Human Erythrocytes as Measured by Means of Iodo 131 -Albumin METHOD Ten to twenty ml. samples of venous blood were drawn from 39 men and women, The blood was promptly mixed with heparin (I mg/Io ml. of blood). A 0.1 ml. volume of a saline solution of iodinated (1131) human serum albumin1 wasadded to each sample of heparinized blood and the flask* (50 ml.) was immediately stoppered. The 1131 activity was approximately 0.05 to OJ &ml. of whole blood. After a few minutes of gentle rotation of the blood an aliquot was removed (in duplicate) with a syringe pipet.
