Die vorliegende Arbeit befal~t sieh mit dem Inositolstoffwechsel dieser beiden Mikroorganismen. Als erstes wird die Aufnahme und VerwerCung des Inositols durch N. crassa ,,inositolless" untersucht. Insbesondere soll festgestellt werden, ob das aufgenommene Inositol w~hrend der Entwieklung dieses Organismus intakt bleibt, oder ob es, wie dies bei Acetobacter suboxydans (PosTE~AI~ 1942), Aerobacter aerogenes (MAGASA~I~: 1951), keimendem Haler (DAbBlE U. NOl~IS 1956) und bei R a t t e n (POSTERNAKU. SCHO1 )FE~ 1955, 1958) beobachtet wurde, zum Teil oder gar vollstgndig abgebaut wird. Da N . crassa ,,inositolless" die Synthesefithigkeit fiir das lnositol verloren hat, kann diese Frage am einfaehsten dureh Bestimmungen des Gesamt-Inositols im Myeel und in der Ns entsehieden werden. Aus zahlreiehen Untersuehungen wissen wir, dab Inositol in der Natur nut zum Teil in freier Form
