Chemistry of Heterocyclic Compounds, Vol. 41, No. 1, 2005 ANNIVERSARIES AND DATES THE 40th ANNIVERSARY OF THE JOURNAL Khimiya Geterotsiklicheskikh Soedinenii [Chemistry of Heterocyclic Compounds] 40 years have passed since the first issue of the journal Khimiya Geterotsiklicheskikh Soedinenii [Chemistry of Heterocyclic Compounds] (CHC) was published. It seems not so long ago that Academician S. A. Hiller told me about the possibility of publishing the results of my Candidacy research in the new journal he had created. Could I ever have imagined that forty years later, I would be writing this introduction to the anniversary issue of the journal? Or that 450 issues of the journal Khimiya Geterotsiklicheskikh Soedinenii have already been published? The journal, which for the first five years had only 6 issues per year, has been published monthly for a long time; and over the past three years, the size of each issue has increased by 11%. Its range of readers has significantly expanded as a result of publication of its English translation Chemistry of Heterocyclic Compounds, especially after the appearance of its electronic version in 2001.
