Culture of nonfertilized female gametophytesin vitro

Culture of nonfertilized female gametophytesin vitro This is a review of literature devoted to in vitro culture of nonfertilized ovaries and ovules. Attention is given to the possibility of induction of haploid plants from female gametophyte culture through analysis of factors affecting the processes of morphogenesis in ovaries and ovules culture. Induction of haploid development depends on genotype, stage of female gametophyte development, composition of nutrient media and conditions of cultivation. A cytoembryological picture of in vitro development of the female gametophyte is given. Egg cells, synergids and antipodals are also capable of inducing embryogenesis or callus formation. http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Plant Cell, Tissue and Organ Culture Springer Journals

Abstract

This is a review of literature devoted to in vitro culture of nonfertilized ovaries and ovules.
