The Mission of AADE Continues to be Heard
Abstract
The Diabetes Educator Volume 27, Number 5 * September/October 2001~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~- The Mission of AADE Continues to be Heard he American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE) held its 28th Annual Meet- ing, "Win the Race With Diabetes Educators," this past Au- gust in Louisville, Kentucky. Much of the dialogue in the general and concurrent sessions focused on ex- ploring new frontiers in the field of diabetes care and education, and the role of the diabetes educator. As I think back to the sessions I attended and the people I talked with, the mission of AADE was emphasized AADE is the one organiza- tion dedicated to meeting the needs of the diabetes educator. Providing current information about emerging trends is essential for discovering to- morrow's opportunities. The diabe- tes educator of tomorrow needs to understand systems and institutions, which requires knowledge of tech- nology and an understanding of teamwork and community. AADE recognizes that change has an im- pact on diabetes care and is inter- ested in supporting members by editorial and reinforced: to advance the role of the diabetes educator and im- prove the quality of diabetes educa- tion and care. Accomplishing this mission in the changing healthcare environment
