NOTE.-In a short paper it is impossible to treat of such a large subject in detail, and for that reason it will be best to deal here only with tlae urban house and the small house, tho'ugh rraucla that may be said of these is also afiplic- able to the large house and tlae r2cral laouse.. There is more than one way of learning what kind of house is a labour-saving house : one of them is to live and do the work in the labour-making house, and that is how most of us learn. Let us then visit, in imagination, one or two of these destroyers of women's health and happiness. Home No. 1 is, I regret to say, a modern working-class house. There are three bed rooms, scullery-kitchen, living room, parlour, larder and bath room. So far so good-indeed, very good-but the kitchen-scullery is 7 feet 6 inches by 9 feet 6 inches, and three doors open out of it, making the fitting into it of all that is should
