The Year Book series now extends to 44 areas of clinical practice. This book, the eighth annual volume devoted to hand surgery, reviews material from 67 journals in English and European languages up to March 1991. Drs Amadio and Hentz have taken over the editorship from Drs Dobyns and Chase, but the format is little changed from previous volumes. 225 papers grouped under 20 subject headings are abstracted and reviewed by 39 contributing editors. Inevitably the contents are weighted towards current areas of interest with wrist disorders contributing to 25% of the material but pertinent papers in all areas are included. W' such a large number of contributing editors of diverse ith background there is variability in the style of abstraction and comment; the majority are concise and objective, setting the article in its place among relevant literature, but others are more personal and opinionated. A.t the end of the larger sections there are additional brief abstracts of other relevant articles on the subject not included in the review.
