Reports and Comments SAGE Publications, Inc.1960DOI: 10.1177/107755876001701108 Dental Survey American Dental Association Press Release October 16, 1960 Results of the most extensive survey ever made of dentistry in the United States were announced in Los Angeles October 16 at the 40th Annual Convocation of the American College of Dentists. Recommendations centered on increased capital expenditure for dental schools, construction of new dental schools, fluoridation of communal water supplies wherever feasible, greatly augmented dental care for school children and more extensive dental research. Carried out by the American Council on Education, the Survey was financed by grants from the W. K. Kellogg Foundation, the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, the Louis W. and Maud Hill Family Foundation and the American Dental Association. Dr. John A. Perkins, president of the University of Delaware, was chairman of the commission that directed the survey, which took more than two years to complete.
