Abstract
EUROPEAN SMALL BUSINESS JOURNAL Notes for contributors Purpose of the European Small Business Journal The purpose of the journal is to provide a forum and a focus for the discussion and dissemination of views and research on the small business sector, both within Europe and elsewhere. The emphasis is on systematic studies which help to improve the general understanding of small business and so contribute to more effective policies for and management of small business. Papers published cover theoretical and methodological developments, empirical studies, practical applications and reviews of relevant literature. It is intended for academics and teachers, policymakers at all levels, trade and business associations, financial institutions, small firms' representative bodies, and planning and industrial development authorities. Contributions All papers published in the journal will be refereed. Suggestions for contributions of original articles to the journal are welcome but a synopsis of 250-300 words would be appreciated before work is started. In the first instance these should be sent to the Publisher. Articles should be 4,000 to 5,000 words in length preferably, though longer or shorter contributions are not necessarily excluded. For example, short research notes of around 1,000 words are also acceptable. Articles must be in
