Morphology and Mechanical Properties of Cellulose Acetate Fibers Grafted with Polyacrylonitrile
Abstract
Vapor phase grafting of polyacrylonitrile (PAN) on cellulose acetate fibers produced a quite homogeneous material, even up to 74% PAN (285% add-on). It is suggested that this homogeneity is responsible for the improved properties of fibers spun from mixtures of cellulose acetate and PAN which also contain the graft copotymer.
