Introduction z thought that I would ty and concentrate on the management issues as those are the issues that feed the work of the Trust. However, despite the difference in the backgrounds and experience of grant maintained schools, there are I believe a core of issues that are common to GXI schools and most schools across the country. Four Management Issues One of our first and principal issues of management in grant maintained schools is roles and responsibilities - what the roles and responsibilities of governors and senior management teams are. There is an awareness in these governing bodies of new responsibilities but, of course, also a lack of experience. There are a whole wide range of neiv responsibilities that they know little about, and they are not quite sure what their role is, either as governors or as executive members of the senior management team.
