The Tenth Pacific Science Congress, Honolulu, Hawaii The attention of the scientific world will focus on the State of Hawaii in the late summer of 1961 (From August 21 to September 6 this year). This area has been chosen by the Pacific Science Association as the site of its Tenth Pacific Science Congress, sponsored by the National Academy of Sciences, Washington, D. C., and the Bernice P. Bishop Museum, Honolulu, in cooperation with the University of Hawaii. Appropriately, the newest state of the U.S.A. will be the scene of the next Congress, because the Association was founded in Honolulu, where its first Congress was held in August 1920. Because of the part played by the Director of the Bishop Museum in establishing the Association, the Museum officially represents what was formerly the Territory of Hawaii. The main session in 1961 will be held on the campus of the University of Hawaii. The main programme is already being organized under sections and divisions. Symposia are the main divisional meetings, but provision has been made for sessions of grouped papers and contributed papers.
