Rather it is a collection of original contributions from the distinguished editors/ authors which reflects the diversity of scope you can expect from the CJPR. This issue contains a variety of presentation formats you can expect in future issues. Of course our primary presentation will be traditional scholarly research. However, criminal justice policy has many sources. The flexibility of the CJPR will allow us to present these other sources of knowledge and understanding. In this issue we present papers by New York Governor Mario Cuomo, who examines the role of information management in the administration of justice. Recognizing his position as New York's chief executive, the importance of information management in justice administration is amplified. Gil Geis has labored to present the proceedings of a major conference on crime statistics and their role in formulating public policy. His labors have produced an informative if non-traditional piece. Kay Knapp examines Minnesota's Sentencing Guidelines and the proactive policy analysis her state has undertaken. The relationship of public policy intervention
