Criminal Justice in the Courts Today

Abstract

The improvement and modernization of the criminal courts is underway throughout the United States today. This article discusses the implementation of the American Bar Association's Standards for Criminal Justice and the climate of the country which led to their formulation. It also discusses the Speedy Trial Act of 1974 and the impact which it will have on our criminal courts and society in the next few years. Finally, Justice Clark offers his ideas on improving advocacy in the criminal courts.
