Call for Papers
Abstract
Callfor Papers Topic: Community-Based Violence Intervention Programs Special Issue Editors: Michael B. Greene, PhD, and Susan Wilt, DrPH Health Education & Behavior, the official journal of the Society for Public Health Education, announces a call for original manuscripts for a special issue on Community- Based Violence Intervention Programs. A large body of research has addressed the causes and correlates of interpersonal violence and the media continue to highlight the tragic consequences of extreme violence as well as the recent downturn in violent crime in the United States. Far less attention has been paid to the process of developing and imple- menting multifaceted community-based programs that effectively reduce the rates and seriousness of violent behaviors. The focus of this issue will be on interventions, so evaluation studies, case studies, and cross-site studies of programs are invited. Articles that examine the roles of individual, family, cultural, and community context in develop- ing effective violence intervention programs are of particular interest. We invite articles that address different types of interpersonal violence, e.g. spousal abuse, gang violence, sexual violence, and hate- or bias-related violence; as well as articles that address interpersonal violence through the life span, from child abuse to youth violence
