Abstract
by Nicolaus Petri Daventriensis (Claes Pietersz) deals with principles of arithmetic and geometry. He also presents examples of trade bookkeeping and appropriate journal entries. There are ten works quoted on the list by Dutch, German and English authors. The last publication comes from 1778 by Samuel Friedrich Helwig, entitled "Beytrge und Berechnungsarten zur Erluterung, Ergnzung und Ntzlicherm Gebrauch Seiner in Jahr 1774 Herausgegeben Anweisung zur Leichten und Grndlichen Erlernung der Italienischen Doppelten Buchhaltung, Berlin 1778" is, in fact, a supplement to the author's 1774 work on Italian bookkeeping. The three briefly mentioned parts are illustrated with thirteen reproductions of genuine title pages, selected pages and covers of the quoted publications. To facilitate access to the works Anna Szychta attaches symbols of the Polish libraries which store the books from the sixteenth and eighteenth centuries. The reviewed book also contains an appendix which is an additional list in alphabetical order of 41 authors of the books on accounting which were edited on the Polish territory from the eighteenth century to the early twentieth century. In conclusion, Anna Szychta's work sheds light on Polish archival resources on accounting literature which survived historical events over 400 years and are stored mainlyPreview Only.
