Abstract

Asia-Pacific Journal of Public Health 1991-Vol 5 NO 2 Asia-Pacific Academic 'Consortium for Public Health Secretariat Report Introduction This report describes the latest activities of, the Asia-Pacific Academic Consortium for Public Health (APACPH). With the important support of the Office of Health of US. Agency for International Development, the APACPH maintain its viability as an active and effective vehicle for promoting professional education for public health in the Asia and Pacific region. It serves as an instrument to raise the visibility and stature of academic public health institutions within member countries and with international agencies. Our approach is to use the peer influence of academic administrators from developing and developed countries to effect changes within academic public health institutions in addressing child survival, primary health care and other public health issues. This innovative approach is consistent with USAIDs concept of sustainability of knowledge and experiences. 17th APACPH Board Meeting in Hanoi, Viet Nan1 At its most exciting and historic meeting, 24 participants from 15 APACPH academic public health institutions along with their Viet Nam colleagues met on the campus of the Faculty of Public Health, Ministry of Health, from December 1 to 4, 1991.
