In this essay, the author sets out to show that while the PLO suffered a severe military setback in June 1982, it gained a temporary freedom of movement and independence from other Arab states. Mr. Sadeghi also points out that while Israel achieved a military victory, it encountered more severe political setbacks. This article outlines the changing positions of Israel via-d-vis the PLO while drawing conclusions as to possible future developments for both.
